Maxxis MA Z1 Drift

A new tyre developed by Maxxis specially for drift competition use.

 Based on Maxxis's ultra high performance MAZ1 Victra road tyre & a specially developed high temeprature silica rubber compound.

The difference in use is quite astounding, where normal road based tyres rapidly overheat when drifting & traction lessens, these get grippier the hotter they get so the faster you can go. They produce masses of smoke which is always a bunus but the biggest difference is the number of tyres I now take to events. They last at least twice as long as any other road tyre I have used. They don't delaminate or suffer from chunking they simply keep on going until no visible tread is left.

Being of a silica compound they also work well in the wet, giving reduced stopping distances, lateral grip & mid corner acceleration

It was that wet Silverstone were going close the circuit for safety reasons...

I now take 3 pairs of spare rear wheels & tyres to a competion round & I always come home with some left. Previously I'd need to take 6 pairs of rear wheels & hope that was enough! That's less gear to carry round & less wheel & tyre changing on event days which makes a BIG difference.

They lasted 8 practice runs, I then did 4 runs & qualified 3rd on them
I went on to come 4th overall & win the hard charger award, all on the same tyres!!
